Front Door Feng Shui

Front Door Feng Shui

Feng shui is a Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing everyone with the surrounding environment. Feng shui is designed to help you gain a better understanding of your own living space and how it may be affecting your mental, spiritual, and physical state of being. Front door feng shui can be used to bring balance and fortune into your home, and create a cheerful atmosphere that welcomes and embraces all who enter.

Auspicious vs Inauspicious

In feng shui, the front door plays an important role in the energy of the home, as it’s the entrance point for chi (or qi), ie. good luck energy. To ensure you have good front door feng shui, pay attention to the orientation and colour of the front door. There are two types of front door feng shui: auspicious and inauspicious.

  • Auspicious Feng Shui
    • Choose a bright, vibrant colour for the front door.
    • Ensure the door is aligned in a positive position.
    • Position the door correctly in relation to the house.
    • The door should open to the inside of the house.
    • Decorate the door with patterns, symbols and decorations.

  • Inauspicious Feng Shui
    • Avoid a noisy, cluttered entrance.
    • Do not hang too many plants or decorations.
    • Do not leave clutter or mirrors near the entrance.
    • Avoid an entrance that faces a straight line.
    • Do not choose a gloomy or dull colour for the front door.

Tips for Good Front Door Feng Shui

  • Ensure Entryway is Clean and Neat: Clutter, dust, and dirt have a negative effect on energy flow and should be kept to a minimum. Make sure your entryway is swept of dirt and dust, and any clutter should be tidied away.
  • Let the Light Shine: A bright, well-lit entrance invites positive energy. Place a mirror on the wall to bounce light and create an inviting atmosphere.
  • Bring Plants and Greenery: Plants not only bring life to your entrance but can help to clear negative energy and block harmful (sha) Qi. Place a potted plant or a sparkling fountain near your door to bring in Feng Shui luck.
  • Let Good Fortune In: Hang a wind chime near your door to attract prosperity and good luck chi. Wind chimes can also help block negative energy from entering your home.

Conclusion

Front door feng shui may seem like a complex system, but with the right balance, it can make all the difference in creating a harmonious and inviting home. Be mindful and selective of the colours and decorations you choose for your front door, as they will be the first impressions your friends and family have when entering your home.
