Yin
and Yang
The universe is made up of two forces or
energies, both of which compliment/balance with each other.
These two energies are called YIN and YANG.
YANG
energy is Masculine, Aggressive, Progressive, Strong, and Dark.
YIN energy
is Feminine, Passive, Still, Gentle, Bright.
An excess of YIN or YANG causes
an imbalance that attracts Shar CHI
(bad) energy. The concept of Yin and Yang is one of the most
important theories of Feng Shui. It is the Chinese perspective
of balance and continual change it is represented by the Tai-Chi
symbol (Fig 1).
If we look at fig 1 (TAI CHI symbol) below
we see the balance between the YIN and YANG energies are complete,
Feng Shui uses complex calculations derived from the I-Ching
(book of change) along with the balancing of the Five
Elements (Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood) taking into
account the physical relationship between the natural environment
and the Compass directions, these calculations help keep the
balance or may be used to counter an imbalance.
The small portion of YIN in the YANG section and vice a verse,
act as a balance within each energy, it also reminds us that
YIN originated from YANG and YANG originated from YIN. Both
these energies encircle and embrace each other this is where
the balance lies.
